Collection: Apatite

Apatite is a group of phosphate minerals, which includes hydroxylapatite, fluorapatite, chlorapatite, and several other varieties. It is often green in color, but can also be blue, yellow, purple, or brown. Apatite is primarily used in the manufacture of fertilizer due to its high phosphate content. Notably, it’s also a key mineral in human and animal teeth and bones. Despite its widespread use, apatite is not generally recognized as a gemstone due to its relatively soft hardness. However, cut and polished specimens are sometimes sold as collector's items or used in jewelry. In geology, apatite is often used for its ability to date rocks and reveal their thermal histories.
